Sunday selects, art attacks…

Art for kids

Since homeschooling I have totally and utterly rediscovered my love of art. I mean I loved it before, but with all this spare time on my hands I have been able to do so much more and experiment with and learn so many more techniques. I have been loving journalling, but also lots of other different things that my mum has been introducing me too.

The art that has got us through this week starts with these butterflies that my mum bought us. I loved painting them with these acrylic paints. The results were ace (we used this book from when I was little for some inspiration, fab book by the way). I think we are going to turn them all into a mobile using fishing wire and beads. I got this new set of watercolours (with my easter money) and love them. They are really good. Previously I have always used this set, but fancied a change (and they were sold out).

I have and love this colouring book. I have nearly completed it all now but the whole series of these books are ace. We’ve been making our own cards for everybody as we’ve not wanted to go to the shops and these letters are fab. We have different coloured inks that we use. I have also gotten into block printing this week. We were totally influenced by Molly Mahon and started with potatoes. This was fun but the potatoes go mouldy and we are kind of on rationing ha, so we ordered some actual wooden ones. I’m so excited for these blocks to arrive. Wrapping paper and cards here I come.

Another art activity we did this week was to get our Bug Bingo and Bird Bingo games out and to do some drawings from them. I loved this. These coloured pencils are the best. Like totally smooth to use and gorgeous colours. We also love this stamping set. Whilst talking about bugs this book is really good. I love the illustrations and there is lots of information on each one. You’ll love it I promise. For birds this book is lovely. I got it when I was little to learn about birds and the alphabet but I still love the illustrations now and love to copy them.

Another thing that Bobby and I have enjoyed is baking. Our favourite book at the minute is this one.

Happy creating.
