Shelley Loves meets A Mothers Edit…

I don’t actually know when I first started following fabulous Ashley of A Mothers Edit on Instagram, but it was many years ago when she only had the one baby, beautiful Vivienne, she has now added Margot into the mix. I have since met her in person and can testify that she is every bit as beautiful (inside and out) in real life. Very cool, with a simple, but fabulous, wearable wardrobe. She has impeccable taste and shares her finds and how to wear them on her awesome blog. I was so very happy when she agreed to answers some questions. I started this series of interviewing my favourite instagrammers/bloggers to show this is a real career path. That there is a wealth of knowledge in this new forum.

What were you doing before you decided to do blog?

Before I had Vivienne I worked as the PR Manager for a fashion brand. I loved it but the hours were long and when I wanted to go back after a years maternity leave they couldn’t offer me flexible working so I made the decision to start freelancing. It was working from home that drove me to start the blog. Needing to have a reason to make an effort again even though I didn’t have the job in town to commute to each day.

What are the best bits about this new career path?
I love that I can choose when I work, I can be there for my daughters, do the preschool run everyday. And at the same time do a job that I love – meet like minded and inspiring women, experience new things every week, and be creative.
And the worst?
It can be hard not having a clear cut-off from work. The work/life lines are blurred so I have to make a conscious effort of switching off and trying to be more present for the girls when I am with them.
What is your go to style?
Always in my 501’s, ankle boots or trainers and a good tee.
What is your ‘cannot live without it’ item?
Definitely my Levis!

What would you wear for a night out?
A classic LBD is so easy. But nights out always are such a rush to get ready these days I’ll often just throw on a little top with the jeans I have worn in the day and swap the flats for some killer heels finished with a red lip.
What are the last three things you bought?
I just bought an Anine Bing blazer and I am in love with it. Feels very extravagant but hoping it’s going to be a hero piece I’ll wear for years to come. I also got a Levis trucker jacket I’ve been layering with my winter coats and some new underwear from &OtherStories. I love their underwear so much!
What will you be wearing for S/S?
I recently bought a kimono from &OtherStories that I am a bit obsessed with so think that’ll be worn a lot over the next few months.
Where are your favourite places to buy your clothes?
Zara, Mango, H&M, &OtherStories, ASOS, Topshop. All highstreet brands. I love Etsy for jewellery and Matches for splurging on shoes and bags.

And your favourites places to buy for the kids?
Zara and Mango (so predictable) always have amazing bits for the girls. I also love Next and Monsoon, and Faune for incredible nightwear.
