Home bargains, adding spring accessories to your home…

Why is it that so many of us are good with layering up our fashion but when it comes to our décor we fall a little short? I mean really it’s the same kind of idea right? Layers , for me, add an instant wow factor and cosy up a space like nothing else I know. However, I think the trick is balance – too much layering and a space can feel way too cluttered, too little and it feels sterile. So in no particular order here are my go to layering tips:

Add gloss

Anything shiny or glossy breaks up dense arrangements of things and keeps any room from feeling too heavy. Add a few metallic, shiny glossy things I say. T-lights, vases, plant pots, mirrors that kind of thing.

Add some greenery

Add some flowers or foliage. It’s the perfect way to make a space feel homely and not contrived plus it adds a fresh element, I love all my flowers and plants.

Vary the heights

If everything were the same size it will read as a really boring so lots of bulky things on a shelf is a big no no. Instead add tall verticals, spindly things, something circular. Play around with the height its far more intriguing.

Mess around with items

Prop some of your pieces, stack things, hang others, lean things, your whole space will feel far more intriguing if you use different techniques, definitely more exciting on the eyes.

Get rid of gaps

I prefer things to look more random and not have hige gaps between them so cluster objects in close proximity. It creates a stronger focal point and grabs your attention immediately. Butt things over, insect but never ever have gaps.

I have to say I am no expert, these are just what I find work. I am constantly messing with what I have in my home, changing and swapping things around. These are just pointers that I have found help.
